The oil on linen or canvas mounted to Masonite is signed and dated lower right.

With the award of a scholarship to The Kansas City Art Institute in the late 1930s, Orren Mixer was able to realize his boyhood dream of becoming an animal artist. He went on to paint hundreds of equine portrait commissions and his work illustrated the covers of The Quarter Horse Journal, Western Horseman, Cattleman and Oklahoma Today.

His career as an artist took him from Oklahoma City to New York City and beyond.




Canvas measures 20 x 16, frame size 24.5 x 20.75 inches.
