A 19TH C. AUSTRO HUNGARIAN ENAMELED GOLD LORGNETTE

221: A 19TH C. AUSTRO HUNGARIAN ENAMELED GOLD LORGNETTE

An elaborate long-handled lorgnette decorated with applied embossed rococo swirls and cartouche-shape plaques enameled in green, blue and white interspersed with bezel set seed pearls and cabochons of turquoise, rubies and emeralds. Apparently unmarked, measures 8.5 inches long by 1.75 inches when closed. Tests for 14k gold.
Very good condition noting five very small lost stones, an extremely subtle bend in the handle, signs of age and use on the high points, very minor discoloration back side, extremely minor enamel loss near the tip of the handle, the mechanism is operable.
