112: A RARE BOW FRONT PHONOGRAPH DISC CABINET WITH LION

A rare and desirable circa double bow-front mahogany disc record cabinet with carved lion's head and claw-footed column, manner of Salter circa 1908. The flame mahogany double-barrel form with serpentine top and ribbon mahogany back, each door opens to 80 felted and numbered record shelves to hold a selection of 160 phonograph discs in all, needle-holder drawer slides out on side for new and used needles – used needle cup includes sliding cover to prevent mix-ups, nice original brass handles with built-in escutcheons and locks, includes keys. Measures 38 x 29 x 18 inches. Cabinets fo this type were made by the Salter company, a double bow front cabinet with lion is considered very rare. Very good restored condition.
