369: A 1911 MILLS NOVELTY 'PREMIUM' MODEL TRADE STIMULATOR

The nickeled iron case with peaked vertical triangular coin drop game board over outset front with cast lettering PREMIUM GUM MACHINE, an obfuscation of the fact that this trade stimulator also functioned as a game of chance. This despite the disclaimer on the paper placards, 'It is not a gambling device, but a machine for dispensing merchandise.' It was actually both. The top coin slot dropped a coin into the game area. A coin in any G slot would win gum. Determined players could, with luck, get more than a piece of gum if they managed a one of the more difficult slots.
Measures 16 x 7.5 x 12.5 inches.
Very good working condition, largely original, the paper placards appear to be replacements, the back is presumably original, keys are present.
