111: MINIATURE FEATHER AND QUILL FURNITURE OFT PRISON MADE

A rare suite of late 19th/early 20th century furniture constructed using tiny iron tacks to join the quill frames and secure the feather vanes being used to emulate seats and backs, black glass headed pins embellish the ears and uprights. Folk art of this type is typically attributed as French and often said to be made by prisoners, one on record thought to be by a Napoleonic prisoner-of-war.
Measure 2.75 to 4.5 inches.
