An unusual portrait of a rotund gentleman in black with interesting gilt highlights and detail seated in an empire style armchair depicted in black with gilt decoration and red seat, signed W.C below one shoe and displayed in a Bird's Eye maple frame of the period, most likely the original frame.
Frame measures 9 x 6.75 with a frame of 12 x 9.75 inches.
Very good condition, noting one small oval stain near the figure's right hand, clean and free from other stain, damage or repair.
