A Chinese Canton export famille rose vase with entwined gilt snakes in relief, painted with designs of figures in pavilions, flowers, birds, and butterflies; set atop a carved hardwood stand, 19th century. Measures 18.5 inches tall, 24 x 8.5 inches including stand .
A chip to one lizard and a star crack in the base. An unexplained band of gold paint has been applied to the lower rim. No evidence of repair in conjunction with the gold paint can be found.
