A Russian champlev?Easter egg, Moscow circa 1908 - 1917. The two halves with a gold washed interior, the exterior profusely decorated with flat beaded borders, trefoil borders, foliate scrolls, flower heads, brackets, scrolls and a central roundel all in subtle complimentary colors against an oxidized silver ground. Hallmarks inside the lower half for Pavel Ovchinnikov, Moscow kokoshnik 84 standard. Measures 3.5 x5 inches. Weight 17.5 ounces troy.
Good condition, noting very minor scattered bits of colored enamel loss revealing white enamel undercoating. Some extremely minor flattening of the rounded underside of the bottom half can be felt but are not visible and cannot be depicted in photographs.
