89: A NAVAJO GERMANTOWN EYE DAZZLER WEAVING

A large weaving with partial orange border and partial border of colorful geometric shapes representing butterflies in Navajo weavings, partial inner border of purple bordering two short sides and extending to part of the long sides of the rug. The central motif consists of two large serrated diamond shapes with diagonal serrated lines at each end, the main background color of the rug is red; the woven colors are white, yellow, black, olive green and orange, circa early 20th century.
Measures 91 x 54 inches.
Very good condition. Complete original and intact ends and sides, clean, no damage or stain. There are scattered areas of re-weave, the largest being in a central ivory bar near one end and approximately 2.5 x 6 inches in size. The workmanship of the repair is very good. There are a very few other bits of re-weave in black (silver dollar size) and green (scattered strings of narrow affected areas), very good, clean and odor free, no serious color run or soiling.
