Landscapes - watercolor and gouache, one monochrome by Johannes Thiel (1889-1962), signed in corners, one titled 'Nordnorwegan' (North Norway) on the reverse, monochrome mounted on paper with 'Dreisamtal mit Kirchzarten' in the margin.Archive includes fourteen pencil signed etchings with Freiburg scenes, studies, and two possible self portraits - one a lithograph, and another lithograph of Death and pall bearers titled 'der Hass wird begraben' (Hate is buried).Various views of Freiburg, Germany, plus Adam and Eve, a loving couple, and his printer; each signed, seven lithographs, one etching.A large folio titled 'Johannes Thiel, Radierungen von Freiburg i Br.' (Engraver from Freiburg in Breisgau), published by Hans Schoof, 1920, with 8 of 16 original pencil signed engravings, plus title and contents pages.Plus books illustrated by Thiel: 'Kleider machen Leute' by Gottfried Keller with 31 illustrations; 'Karlemann und Flederwisch,' 1926; 'Neuer Korb voll Allerlei;' a 1920's era copy of 'Strupp' along with a loose leaf advertisement of the same - with a 1923 dated inflation-era 100,000 Reichsmark note tucked in the pages; two copies of the June 1924 issue of 'Die Kunst fuer Alle' featuring a large section on Thiel and his work, Auto Bummel automobile tour book of Baden-Wurttemberg with 150 illustrations by him; and a copy of 'Des deutschen Michels Bilderbuch, 1896-1921' - 25 years of Simplicissimus (no Thiel illustrations).
Folio measures 17.5 x 15.5 inches, other items smaller.
Good condition overall: All pieces show some measure of age and toning. Folio shows some water damage, sheets in good condition.
