The circular wood drum suspended in brass gimbals, within the original dove-tail construction case with hand-chamfered sliding lid cover. The dry card dial a wood engraved printing of compass star divided into eight points with a fleur-des-lis at the point for north, the maker's name of Rob't L. Shaw New York Water St. New York. The dial measures 6.25 inches. Case measures 10 x 6.5 x 9.75 inches.
