257: AN INTERESTING C. 1900 ENGLISH BRASS AND OAK LETTER BOX

A nice original finish oak box with caramel color patina topped by a scroll cut back with hanging hole over the hinged top centered by a slot for depositing letters, the face of the box enclosed by a brass front with 1237d and embossed decoration centering a scroll cut brass receptacle presumably for holding cards or letters as well. The overall measurements are 10.5 x 5 x 6 inches.
Very good original condition but for two modern replacement screws, nice patina overall.
