94: A POLYPHON 'STYLE 48' MUSIC BOX ON RARE MATCHED STAND

A very nice example of a Polyphon "Style 48" disk music box with double comb, 112 notes, 12 saucer bells and an excellent original sepia tone lithograph. The drop panel hinged lid is centered by a floral inlay of three different colored woods. This fine machine sits on an unusual matching stand of the exact appropriate size, a stand of the same period and style as the music box. The size and proportions of the table are matched to the machine and a deep drawer holds extra discs. Ten 14.5 inch discs are included in this lot with this machine. Additional groups of discs will be sold in subsequent lots immediately following. The music box measures 10 x 21 x 19 inches, stand measures 29.5 x 22 x 20.25 inches, height 39.5 inches overall.
Very good playing condition. The machine winds and all functions operate well, the bells can be included or silenced. There are six broken and missing teeth from one of the two combs as shown. The case condition is very good noting three missing screws from the decorative casting around the winding handle. Very good cosmetic condition inside and out, both stand and case. Very good playing condition.
