A remarkable original notgeld and gutschein collection of approximately 1115 pieces total all loosely organized in a period binder. Each page organized by similar city/state-specific examples, some pages marked with name of issuing city/state. Collection mostly paper, but includes two linen anti-Allies propaganda examples, including a 10,000 Mark note with lace fringe, issued by Bielefeld in 1923, and a stitched double-sided 500 Mark. Also, an example from Bielefeld, 1922, with parody cartoon of Wilson with a bag of money, and referencing verses from the Hebrew bible like Habakkuk. A wide variety of artwork throughout the collection, including characters drawn from history, literature, or scenes of nature or towns. Some examples found as early as February 1919. Includes Diepholz, Brunsbuettel, Ansbach, Altona, Boblingen und Sindelfingen, Bordesholm, Eberwald, Elberfeld, Ettal convent, Danzig, Muenden, Glashuette, Strasburg, Schneeberg, Weimar, etc. Quite a thorough collection.
Original binder deteriorating, pages very brittle, notgeld in very good – excellent condition.
