317: AN UNUSUAL STONEWARE CONTAINER WITH PIERCED DRAIN BASE

The unusual salt-glazed beehive form stoneware vessel with open top mouth, side bung near the lower rim and pierced base for draining and or straining. There are no markings beyond the cobalt blue numeral 3.
Measures 16 x 9.5 inches.
Very good condition noting a fire line at the spout, chip to the upper rim. There are no other chips, cracks, repairs or areas of heavy wear.
