248: A 20TH C. FRENCH OR ITALIAN NEOCLASSICAL COMMODE

Rectangular beveled grey veined marble top with canted corners, over a conforming case of slender breakfront form and fitted with three long graduated drawers, frieze drawer and sides flanked by crossbanding and inlaid with ebonized and tulipwood chequer motifs, central parquet patterning on lower drawers flanked by bookmatched veneers, canted stiles with inlay simulating pilasters, and inlaid quarter veneered paneled sides; the whole raised on square tapering legs. Fitted with circular foliate-cast handles and escutcheons. Measures 34 x 40 x 20 inches. Provenance: The Joseph Candioto Trust. We ship in-house for all items with the exception of very large and or very fragile pieces and some international shipments.
Chipping and losses to the veneer, otherwise good condition without major damage or repair.
