AN 18TH C. PORTRAIT OF DUKE ADRIEN MAURICE DE NOAILLES

207: AN 18TH C. PORTRAIT OF DUKE ADRIEN MAURICE DE NOAILLES

An oil on canvas portrait of French aristocrat and soldier Adrien Maurice de Noailles, 3rd Duke of Noailles (1678 - 1766) after the portrait by Eloi Firmin Feron. Canvas measures 26 x 22, frame measures 32 x 28.5 inches. The work painted late 18th century and re-lined circa 1900. Provenance: The Joseph Candioto Trust. We ship in-house for all items with the exception of very large and or very fragile pieces and some international shipments.
Good noting repair and overpaint. The work has been re-lined circa early 20th century. Examination under UV light detects in-painting only at the extreme left hand side near the frame mid-way down and in the lower left corner. But visually, the facial area has a glazed look. There is no indication of in-painting in or around the face, only the lower left areas mentioned.
