An Empire-Style Gilt Bronze-Dore Mounted and Flame Figured Mahogany Bureau a Cylindre. France, late 19th century. The upper rectangular structure fitted with three short drawers with applied gilt palmettes, the cylinder featuring applied gilt mask of Apollo opening to reveal a pullout black leather writing surface and fitted with an arrangement of a long filing niche over three short drawers, the lower desk fitted to each side with a pullout leather writing surface and five frieze drawers, supported by square tapering legs with bronze mounts and end caps. Measures 47 x 45 x 25 inches. Provenance: The Joseph Candioto Trust. We ship in-house for all items with the exception of very large and or very fragile pieces and some international shipments.
Nice patina overall. Very good original condition, free from damage, repair or replacement. The subtle effects of age and use evident upon close inspection.
