132: A FINE 19C. MARBLE BUST OF VENUS AFTER ANTONIO CANOVA

A study of The Venus Italica after the life-sized model by Antonio Canova, a head and shoulders bust from the Medici Venus of antiquity, displayed on a cove-molded socle , mid to late 19th century, unsigned, measures 22.5 x 17 x 10 inches. Provenance: The Joseph Candioto Trust. We ship in-house for all items with the exception of very large and or very fragile pieces and some international shipments.
Very good condition. There are no chips, cracks, repairs or damage of any type, though the lower back side has had paint applied. This suggests a repair to the very bottom back side of the bust though no repair can be detected at any angle from any perspective. The socle base has been permanently joined to the sculpture.
