125: A 19TH C. TALL CLOCK, GUSTAV BECKER WESTMINSTER CHIME

In two parts, the French Empire style mahogany long case clock on stand a time and strike movement fitted with 8-rod chime signed Westminster Harfen-Gong DRP (Deutsches Reich Patent) GB for Gustav Becker; with molded cornice fitted with double paneled door, the upper panel mounted with white enameled dial, Arabic hour chapter, three winding holes and engine-turned gilt bezel, ribbon wreath gilt-mounts applied to spandrels over glazed lower panel revealing the mask of Apollo pendulum, flanked by long plain pilasters with gilt Egyptian-head capitals; lower recessed portion with mounted gilt-metal crown of laurel and oak, animal leg supports with gilt winged lion's head capitals and terminating in paw-cast feet, the whole on conforming plinth base with rosette and palmette metal mounts and squashed bun feet. Height 84 inches by 24 wide and 16 deep.



Provenance: The Joseph Candioto Trust. We ship in-house for all items with the exception of very large and or very fragile pieces and some international shipments.
Very good condition with the exception of the dial which has approximately 40 percent restored enamel in amateur repair. The case and all bronze elements in very good condition free from repair, losses or major restoration. The pendulum stick has been broken and poorly repaired.
