A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE 19TH C. SEVRES CASKET

94A: A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE 19TH C. SEVRES CASKET

The cartouche shape dresser box with a high dome cover centered by a hand painted scene of 18th century courtly couples in an interior setting signed Collinet; and bordered within a pronounced gold decorated cobalt blue billowing frame of conforming shape within the ormolu bezel; the base lavishly decorated in gold enamels of florals, musical instruments and intricate reserves of landscape views framed in stylized palms all on cobalt ground. Marked on the underside of the base with the blue Louis Phillipe 1846 circular mark, the red Chateau des Tuileries and green underglaze Sevres mark. A deteriorated satin covered insert and original key are included. Measures 8 x 17 inches. Provenance: The Joseph Candioto Trust. We ship in-house for all items with the exception of very large and or very fragile pieces and some international shipments.
The painted scenes and the interior both display crazing overall and there is very minor shallow glaze wear at each end of the top near the bronze frame. Otherwise very good condition. There are no chips, cracks or repairs. There is light to moderate gold wear. No damage, repair or restoration.
