28: A CONTEMPORARY LAKOTA SIOUX HEADDRESS WITH BEADING

The bonnet with wrapped quills, lazy stitch beaded head band in red, light blue, darker blue and light amber; buckskin hide foundation with painted symbols, large shell disc adornments with ermine drops, two rows of trade beads and cone tinklers with horse hair; more than sixty feathers with down tufts, a silver pin with turquoise and other ancillary ornaments are included.
Attributed to a relative of artist Charles Fasthorse.
Measures inches in length including the fringe. Feathers are approximately 16 inches in length.
Very good condition, there are no losses, repairs or evidence of wear.
Provenance: Purchased from Prairie Edge Gallery, El Centro, Santa Fe, New Mexico circa 1980s.
