70: A RARE WEDGWOOD MAJOLICA CROCUS HOLDER ON STAND

(Circa the last quarter of the 19th century.)
The colorful spiky seashell motif with seaweed and coral, turquoise interior, resting on a stand of conforming outline and its craggy edge with sprigs of seaweed; impressed marking of 'Wedgwood' only, impressed letter D and W, numerals 1294 in black.
Measures 6 x 12 x 8.5 inches.
Very good condition, noting some minor issues common to majolica: a fine, tiny firing line on the bottom rim of the stand, a flake from the bottom rim of the stand, a series of original factory glaze misses. along the outer edge of the bottom rim exposing white body, a tight hairline near the front bottom edge of the crocus holder extends up to the first hole on that side near the front, four of the spiny points of the shell have factory firing lines, six of the spiny points on the shell have glaze rubs, not chips; there are no other chips, cracks, repairs or areas of heavy wear.
