A monumental first edition reference volume published by The Werner Company, Akron, Ohio, compiled by Gustav A. Sigel, text in German and English side by side throughout, pictorial cloth hardcover, 181 pp. Outlines the organization and responsibilities of army regiments and battalions, cavalry - hussars and uhlans, telegraph, train, artillery, airship, navy ships and marines, colonial troops, etc, and illustrated with 41 chromolithograph plates with tissue guards beginning with Kaiser Wilhelm II and staff. All depicted on parade, drilling, mounted, or in other situations unique to their specialties, and wearing colorful uniforms and correct headgear, well before the advent of the field grey uniform in 1910. These illustrations have been reproduced in other uniform guides throughout the 20th century covering the pre-WWI Imperial German armed forces.
Measures 17.5 x 13.5 inches.
Good condition, binding tight, toning to pages, some bumping and rubbing to boards, 3 inch separation on the front board hinge toward the bottom, water staining along the lower edges.
