The oil on canvas painting attributed to William A. Ford, a Kansas artist listed in Susan Craig's 'Biographical Dictionary of Kansas Artists (active before 1945)' as having been active as an artist painting portraits and landscapes around the Hutchinson, Kansas area circa 18.
The composition, a copy of Thomas Hill's View of the Yosemite Valley has been widely honored through reproduction by a number of artist's and through mass production by L. Prang, Boston, a chromolithograph of 1869.
Canvas measures 28 x 48.5, frame is 37.25 x 57.25 inches.
Very good condition, professionally restored, relined, clean and fine, there are no areas of damage or loss, no condition issues.
Provenance: A Hutchinson, Kansas family through two generations.
