Titled lower center 'Martial Law', dated lower center 1872, publisher Geo. C. Bingham & Co. Columbia & Kansas City Missouri, noted lower center 'Dedicated to the Friends of Civil Liberty by the Publishers', 'Proof' lower right. line and mezzotint engraving (a.k.a. Order No. 11) circa 1872, after the original painting by George Caleb Bingham, now in the collection of the State Historical Society of Missouri. This is an exceptionally fine impression on larger than usual sheet size.
Image measures 21.75 x 31, sight size is 25 x 33 with a frame of 34 x 45 inches. Sheet measures 32 x 43 inches.
Very good condition, the complete sheet, not laid down, no damage or repair. There are no issues of foxing, water stain, tears, punctures, scratches or folds. There is a horizontal stain line above the image in the upper margin as shown in the images of this print outside the framing. The line does not show in the framed and matted image, second to last.
