An Italian Art Deco Style Sideboard by Osvaldo Borsani. walnut veneers with black lacquer, conforming smoked glass top, polished steel pulls, glass shelf below four drawers and a lower polished steel cylindrical stretcher. From the Atelier di Varedo studio owned by Gaetano Borsani and at this time run by the son, designer Osvaldo Borsani, manufactured by Atelier Borsani Varedo, maker of very high quality pieces of furniture in the Art Deco and early mid century periods. Borsani's father, Gaetano, started the family furniture-making business, Atelier di Varedo, in 1923. Osvaldo Borsani (1911-1985) is being celebrated at the Milan Triennale design museum in a retrospective that runs to early September, co-curated by the British architect Norman Foster and architect Tommaso Fantoni, Borsani's grandson.
