TWO LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH C. IRON ALLIGATOR FIGURES

188: TWO LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH C. IRON ALLIGATOR FIGURES

The larger example may have been used as a curling iron stand on a wood fired stove circa late 19th or early 20th century.
The smaller alligator clearly was originally a bell toy that would have had a bell mounted above the wood knob and had a wheel where the iron post remains just under the 'chin'.
Measure 7.5 inches and 12.5 inches.
As found condition, both with remnant brown paint, exposed surfaces show oxidation and age and missing elements.
