A 19TH C BENCH WITH CAST IRON C. & N. W. RAILROAD LOGOS

148: A 19TH C BENCH WITH CAST IRON C. & N. W. RAILROAD LOGOS

The ash or oak wood slats connecting two heavy cast iron end supports with scrolled armrest and legs and a receptacle for the wood slats and a circular monogram of cast openwork C&NW conjoined letters for the Chicago and North Western Railroad, a third center iron arm ties the slats together. A rare item that if found again would likely have replacement woods as these were most typically fully exposed to the elements at some point over their 150 years.
Measures 29 x 68 x 20 inches.
Very good original condition with nice patina on the original wood slats, a chip to one iron foot.
Provenance: The Collection of Ed McHugh, Massillon, Ohio
